'The Lord blessed me' | Georgia woman rings in 108 years

Flora Mae White is celebrating her 108th birthday and her family believes she's the oldest living woman in central Georgia.

Flora Mae White was born on Dec. 12, 1915, and she's known Georgia all her life.

She's celebrating her 108th birthday and her family believes she's the oldest living woman in central Georgia.

White was born in Eatonton, but was raised by her aunt and uncle in Eastman. She had three brothers and two sisters, and she was the oldest of all of them.

Growing up in Eastman, she says her family owned a plantation farm in Dodge County and they farmed cotton, vegetables and bred cows, which was rare for African Americans during the early 1900s.

After her mom passed when she was 12 years old, Flora had to quit school to take care of her siblings and worked at a canning factory to keep up the house.

Fast-forward to now, she's lived a life filled with love and family and she got to celebrate with them over the weekend.

"It made me feel good," White said, "I was glad to have family around, I just missed my brothers and sisters."

Cherri Lavender is her granddaughter and she said her grandmother is the matriarch in the family who has overcome a lot just to be here today.

"I've never known anyone her age 108 and I think that she has reached tremendous milestones," Lavender said. "She has always been a giver, she's always been the one that you go to and she was always the shortest one but the feistiest one."

So, what's Flora Mae White's secret to staying so young?

"Treat people right and you'll live a long time. You have to give up your right to live and I cried many days," she said. "Sometimes I was wrong and sometimes I was right, but I've lived a good blessed life."

Family, friends, and staff members at Pruitt Health Peake celebrated her birthday over the weekend.

White said she's blessed to see 108 and is looking forward to spending more time with her family.

Guy Saved A Wild Fox From A Fur Farm And They Became Best Friends

Guy Saved A Wild Fox From A Fur Farm And They Became Best Friends

Woody, the fox, was raised on a fur farm in Russia and his life was about to end in a tragic manner. The poor animal would have been put to death if Yarosalv had not intervened. The human saw the fox and could not bear to let him be murdered for his fur coat. Yaroslav paid the fur farm owners the price that they expected for the creature’s coat and brought the poor animal home.

Though Woody was rather distant at first, the fox soon adapted to his new surroundings. Now, the adorable fox is living his life to the fullest and is very grateful to his owner for rescuing him from the fur farm. Since it is not an easy task to domesticate an animal like a fox, we truly believe that Yaroslav deserves to be appreciated for his efforts. Thanks to him Woody got a second chance at life.

Lion with a Very Impressive Mane Looks Like He’s just Left the Hair Salon in Czech

A lion brought a whole new meaning to the word ‘catwalk’ when he was pictured stepping out in the glistening snow, majestic mane blowing in the wind.

The photogenic feline, called Tom, five, posed wide-eyed with his locks tousled and sprawled out next to some pine branches.

He also cuddled up to a tree stump, golden fur catching the sun as the king of the jungle – or in this case, of the Zoopark Na Hrádečku in Czech Republic – sauntered around.

The stunning snaps were captured by  amateur photographer Robert Grim, 51, from Prague.

He said the creature, who after being rescued from illegal practices can now roam around in a ‘huge space’ at the zoo, looked like he had just stepped out of the salon.

The lion was also pictures as he posed wide-eyed with his locks tousled and sprawled out next to some pine branches amid the glistening snow

Mr Grim said: ‘The lion’s name is Tom and he looks like he just came from the barbershop.

‘Tom and his brother Leo were rescued from a very bad and illegal environment. In this park, they have a huge space and they are doing really well.

‘This lion is going to celebrate his 6th birthday with his brother in May 2022.’

The pair of lions often feature on the zoo’s social media channels. In 2020 for World Lion Day on August 10, Zoopark Na Hrádečku treated Tom and Leo to toys with some meat hidden in them.

On its website Zoopark Na Hrádečku says it participates in conservation projects and cooperates with zoos across Europe.

It adds: ‘We participate in conservation projects. We try to educate the general public on nature conservation issues, for example through guided tours.

We are also involved in legislative changes that concern animal protection.’
